Why we started the club
Hi there. I started The Cassette Club because I found an old mixtape a friend made me years ago, and it still meant more than anything I’d ever been bought. Playlists are easy to send and easy to forget. A tape you have to sit down, choose every song for and press record on is different.
So we built a little attic studio on Jalan Besar where anyone can make one — no experience needed. Whether you make it with us at a workshop or we record it for you, every cassette is made by hand, numbered and leaves here as the only one of its kind.
6 songs are included. Want more? Add 2 more songs (up to 8) for +$10. The whole mix, voice notes included, must fit within 44 minutes. Your opening voice note always plays first and your closing note always plays last.
There’s no maximum number of songs. The standard workshop includes 16 minutes of recording time — 8 minutes per side — which most guests find is just the right amount to finish their mixtape and enjoy the whole experience.
Most people clip their songs and record just a favourite chorus or verse: you choose the exact start and end time for each track, so you could use just your favourite 30 seconds. As long as everything fits on the cassette, add as many songs as you like.

No. Every gift set includes a transparent player and wired earphones.
Standard delivery takes 5–7 days. In a hurry? Choose express 3-day or 2-day delivery when you check out. You can also pick it up free from our 320 Jalan Besar studio.
Yes — leave those fields blank and the gift box arrives unsealed, so you can handwrite and decorate before giving.
Yes — born to be spoilt! If you’re celebrating your birthday at a workshop, you can choose a metallic cassette tape, which isn’t available in studio otherwise. It’s valid for sessions within 3 days before or after your birthday, so just mention your birthday when you book.
Yes — and our reviewers’ top tip is to come with your setlist ready, so you spend your two hours recording and decorating rather than choosing songs.
Before you come
Sessions are by appointment only. Pay in full via PayNow to confirm your slot. Groups and corporate bookings: WhatsApp us for flexible timing.
Slots open up to 6 months ahead and weekends go fast — we recommend booking well in advance.
Free with at least 72 hours’ notice. Less than 72 hours before your session, a $15 fee applies for every 2 people.
No-shows aren’t refunded and count as an attended session. Can’t make it? Send a friend in your place — just let us know.
The workshop is 2 hours with a 30-minute grace period. Sessions start and end on schedule, even if you arrive late. Need more time? Add a 1-hour extension for $15 per person.
Each cassette includes 16 minutes of recording (8 minutes per side). Clip songs to your favourite parts to fit in more — we’ll help on the day.
Bring your setlist and have your songs ready on your phone’s music app. It’s our reviewers’ number one tip, and leaves more time for decorating.
Children under 10 need parental supervision throughout the session.
No food in the studio. Drinks are welcome, but please dispose of them outside.
There’s a lift to Level 3. Note there are 2 steps down from the reception area to the main studio — let us know if you’d like a hand.
